We invited Mr. Yasuhiro Yamazaki, a leading expert in the field of wheelchair seating in Japan, to our university, where he gave a lecture on innovative wheelchair cushions and seating methods that do not necessarily rely on high-tech solutions.

Mr. Yamazaki himself uses a wheelchair due to a spinal cord injury. Drawing on his own experiences as well as case studies of other wheelchair users, he introduced the current situation and challenges of wheelchair seating in Japan and discussed seating techniques based on international standards.

We hope to apply the knowledge gained from this opportunity to our future research and educational activities. With Mr. Yamazaki¡¯s continued guidance, we aim to advance the development of improved wheelchair technologies. We also look forward to inviting him again in the future for seminars, classes, and lectures at our university.
