In addition to tuition fees, other fees must be paid, including (1) actual costs for practicums, (2) teaching materials, (3) Support Group fees, (4) accident insurance for students pursuing education and research, (5) premiums for Will, the Japan Nursing School Benefit Association Insurance, and (6) costs for infectious disease testing and vaccinations.
(1) Actual Costs for Practicums
Students must pay costs for lab coats and shoes used for practicums, as well as costs for tests taken prior to practicums, and the actual cost of transport and accommodation necessary for participating in practicums on each occasion. However, due to potential cost disparities between practicum locations, in terms of transport and accommodation choices, the Support Group fees help to correct these disparities to a degree (as explained in (3)).
(2) Teaching Materials
The costs of textbooks are to be paid by students.
(3) Support Group Fees (Not Applicable for Graduate School Students)
At IPNU there is a Support Group organization set up for the purpose of better student welfare (members are guardians or guarantors of IPNU students). The Support Group supports the Student Association, University Festival, and club activities, and provides assistance for transport costs necessary for practicums outside of the university.

(4) Premiums for Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research (Gakkensai)
Accident insurance for students pursuing education and research is a national level accident insurance system, in which insurance is paid out if a student sustains a physical injury as a result of a sudden, unforeseen accident during education and research activities, or during travel between home and school/university facilities, or when travelling to practical training facilities outside of school/university (see also the leaflet about enrolling for accident insurance for students pursuing education and research). At IPNU, all students are enrolled at the time of admission.

(5) Premiums for Nursing School General Insurance (Will) (Optional for Graduate School Students)
Nursing School General Insurance (Will) is insurance through the Japan Nursing School Benefit Association. This general insurance system provides broad support for the student lives of nursing students, including coverage for accidents causing injury during off-site practical training, accidents causing injury at the university or at university events, and accidents during travel to practical training facilities. Practical nursing training involves going to locations where unexpected accidents or injuries can occur, so all undergraduate students are expected to sign up for this insurance for the duration of their time at university (it is optional for Graduate School students).

Vaccinations are not performed on campus. However, in the event that criteria are not met for the antibody titer tests for measles, rubella, mumps, or chickenpox, a vaccination is required, at the student’s medical institution of choice. A fee is required for vaccinations, which varies by medical institution (approximately ?4,000–8,000 per vaccination).
For the hepatitis virus test, if the HBs antibody does not test positive, a Hepatitis B vaccine (three separate doses) is required, at the student’s medical institution of choice.
